Saltcare Xtra / Salt Neutraliser
- SALTCARE XTRA has been specially designed pigmented coating as a surface primer with excellent resistance to water/Alkali & Efflorescence.
- SALTCARE XTRA act as anti - efflorescence primer prevents the growth of salt formation on the walls.
- SALTCARE XTRA - Salt Neutralizer is an aqueous solution based on Ethanoic Acid with a surfactant. It has been developed to solve the problem of salt migration in construction mineral bricks
- Due to rising dampness, sodium contained in the ground water are absorbed into the masonry and subsequently into the interior plaster. The effected plaster must be removed in order to carry out the necessary treatment with SALTCARE XTRA.
- However, in some situations where the type of salts within the masonry are such that the plasterwork remains in good condition, SALTCARE XTRA can be applied directly to the original plaster, removing the immediate need for re-plastering

Surface Preparation
- Remove all loose salts from the masonry
- Soak the affected masonry with clean Tap water
- Do not soak plaster finish if original plaster is being maintained
Application
- Apply SALTCARE XTRA , Salt Neutralizer directly onto the internal wall, using painting brush in areas effected due to efflorescence.
- Under most circumstances one coat or application adequate
- Allow some time for the neutralizing action to be completed
Direction For Use:
- Clean the surface with brush and ensure no loose particles remains on substrate. On the clean and dry substrate, apply it with the help of brush. Allow it to dry for 4-6 hrs. Then apply second coat and after 24 hrs apply Waterproofing Chemical (Tankcare 2K) and topcoat (paint).
Application Limitations
- SALTCARE XTRA Salt Neutralizer is only suitable for internal application. After a drying out period a white deposit may be left on the surface where the original efflorescence has taken place and is sometimes difficult to remove
Redecoration
- Redecoration is to be applied on the treated masonry the area should be washed with clean water and allowed to dry.
Storage
- Keep only in the original container in a cool, well ventilated place away from children and direct sunlight. Keep container closed when not in use. Keep away from oxidizing agents, strong acids and strong bases.
Coverage
- Coverage will vary dependent on the type of substrate and surface. 1 lit Dampcare should treat 5m² to 10m².
Shelf Life
- 2 year from the date of manufacturing in original tightly closed container away from direct sunlight & excessive heat
Health & Safety
- Always refer to the MSDS and read the container label before use. Wear protective gloves, protective eyewear and protective mask. Try to avoid inhaling fumes. The solution has a strong acetic smell, but will rapidly dissipate with good ventilation.
